The season opens on Tuesday, July 11,2018 with the dynamic Gryphon Trio. Now in their 23rd season, they are two-time winners of Canada’s Juno award for Classical Album of the Year.

On Friday, July 21, we are extremely pleased to present pianist Ralph Votapek performing a solo recital. He is familiar to Northern Michigan audiences, having recently performed with the Traverse City Symphony. Winner of both the Van Cliburn and Naumburg competitions, his brilliant and poetic interpretations have been heard around the world in an international performing and recording career spanning over five decades.

A third concert on Friday, August 11, rounds out the season with an evening of music for string trio featuring distinguished chamber musicians. Interlochen’s eminent violist David Holland and renowned violinist Jorja Fleezanis will join me in a Summer Serenade of masterpieces by Dohnanyi and Mozart.

As in previous seasons, the LSMF concerts will take place in the charming and intimate setting of the Concert Hall (Sala Koncertowa) of the former Holy Rosary School in Isadore, north of Cedar. After each concert, the audience will have the opportunity to meet the performers during an informal “talk-back” in the concert space, followed by an on-site Afterglow Reception.
